Reflection 9/4/18
After the crit this morning we started to an our final project and the work for the public exhibition. Because the main topic of the Unit 7 is about human behavior and our living environment so the last one must be including in it. Reviewing the project I have done before, they all have their own clear concept. The first project was about how people understand the things around them; The second project was about how people made their choices and how they grow up and give up their habits; The third one was about How people enjoy the beauty of the environment and nature. So the last project I want to explore What we have done for the world. In other words, How could we influence the nature? What should we bring to our living environment?
I supposed that it would be a very big subject which I can explore very deeply because everything are being change by our behaviors. Each activity about human will influence the whole environment at any times. But is was just a draft plan and further details I will think about tomorrow.
By the way the idea of the work in the public exhibition will be base on the topic for Project 4 because I think using this topic can create many interesting things which have a strong visual effect with a large scale.
Reflection 10/4/18
Today's target is confirm the direction of the title of the Project 4. So I began to do some research about the topic I thought about yesterday on the Internet. I looked through some website and read the introduction about environment change, climate change and endangered animals, etc. In these subjects, the article about wild animals protection has drawn my attention a lot. Nowadays some animals are disappearing gradually because of bad human behaviors like random hunting, water pollution and forest destroying, etc. We should be aware that some endangered animals are leaving with us in the future. To protect the ecological equilibrium we should have action immediately.
As I Graphic Communication Design student what I could do is let more people know about these animals situations nowadays just like many designers who are working on the environmental protection field. So I started to search about the endangered animals who are almost extinct. Later I found an introduction about an endangered animal called gray whale. It said that the gray whales have been hunted without any limitation that caused it reduced to about one hundred amount in the world on 2004. I felt shameful when I heard about this. What on earth we did for this planet? As one type of creature in this world how should we get on with the other animals? These would be the questions I will answer during this project.
Reflection 12/4/18
I started to make my ideas creation of the work which would be show to the public public exhibition since yesterday. I supposed it might be the final outcome of my last project after editing.
I decided to create a series of picture which will shows the sea environment nowadays. It would be consist of 6 pages and there would be the different things and creatures of each floor in the sea. On the surface of the sea, there will be some hunting ships and the colour of the sea would be dark because the ships polluted the water in the first sea level. The second page would be consist of a piece of sea with clean water and some small fishes in it. But the dirty water water on the first page would hide the second page. And so forth, there would be oil pollution on the third one; some bigger fishes and sea creatures would be in the fourth page; Date pollution picture would be put on the fifth and the gray whales would be on the last page. They would be folded together and I will print the pictures on the acetate so people could see through just like to feel the depth of the sea. Also I have made some digital picture in order to see the effect of them.

Reflection 13/4/18
Creating each page will be the big challenge in this project. It is impossible to draw all the six pages within a short time like that. So I decided to use both illustrations and photographs to make those pictures. First I searched about the pictures of the gray whale on the Internet because I could take photo by myself now. But actually there was no any suitable picture for my work because I need a photo taken from a overlook angle. So I could just use drawing for them. In order to unified the style of the whole work, I decided to draw all the fishes and boats in the pictures except the two pollutions one by myself. The drawing processes have been shown under this text box.
But there were still some problems appeared when I drew them. First the hunting ship was really detailed so it was quitre difficult to drawing. After drawing I felt it was not the same style with other pages so I use photoshop to make another picture.
During the final process I met trouble again. When I tried to connect the pages together like my plan in the proposal form. But because if I just use one string to hang up a page, it would turn around randomly so each page couldn't be controlled in one same visual angle. I was really confused about it because I have tried many different ways to hang up them but no one worked. There was no any way could let three of them be fastened and the other could be removed. I had another idea was that put them in to a transparent plastic box to firm the pictures. But the point is I didn't have enough time to make this box because it would need some strings that could pull some of the pictures in it so it would be quite difficult to make. I thought I might need tutor's help that give me some suggestions later.
Reflection 15/4/18
Today I finished all the work of project 4 and it meant that the Unit 7 was around the end. I photographed my work for the public exhibition and I hoped my work could be selected by the tutor to show on the exhibition gallery. Because the work I designed in this project was based on the real social problems nowadays. It is quite important to draw more people's attention to our environment and endangered animals protection project. My work would be notice more people to think about our future via gray whale who was the representative of endangered animals.
This series of pictures has shown a smart design of background using. The background changes will influence the effect of the picture and it will decide the meaning of the design at the same time.
I really want to use this work to tell more people we should stop our actions which will hurt the animals and their living environment.
